The story here starts with the rail yards at Clyde. Worker housing filled in around them over five decades either side of Federation, and the Lebanese and Maltese communities who settled here since have kept that working suburb feel intact.

Slower drainage building over several weeks, or a smell that keeps coming back, is the signal to book before either problem gets worse. Neither one tends to fix itself, and both get more expensive the longer they're left.

Both issues share one trait worth remembering: they're easier and cheaper to sort before they become urgent, not after the yard's already underwater or the pipe's given way completely.
